Conference Keynote: Management as a Service - demystified
The landscape of how IT is delivering business value, has been greatly influenced by the emerging paradigms, such as cloud computing, DevOps, outsourcing, hosting and more. Coming from a consistent pattern for managing applications on enterprise distributed system, and moving into a more cloud native management approach using Management as a Service, doesn’t only change the landscape of IT operations in general, but also introduces us to an ocean of opportunities. During this keynote, Kristian Nese, part of Azure engineering, will run through heavy-hitting demos to show the significant changes in IT operations for public cloud management, and the latest innovations in the platform and the management services. Come open minded, prepare to be inspired, as we’ll unveil how Azure helps you to keep the lights on, remain efficient, scalable, secure, and flexible.

DevOps Patterns and Anti-Patterns
Everyone's talking about DevOps. If you are not doing DevOps, you will be doomed. Modern IT must be doing DevOps. Everyone needs DevOps. Now! This is what you hear everywhere nowadays but what is DevOps and how is it helping me or my company? DevOps can be many things and everyone has a slightly different take on it. In my session, I will not only share my view on DevOps in general but mainly focus on best practices and mistakes often seen in todays IT departments. Many of the patterns and anti-patterns I discuss are well known in the world of software development but mostly not well known for engineers in operations. You will leave this sessions with some insights of common mistakes and best practices. This session is more about people and culture than about code.

Microservices in practice: Design, platforms, tools and code
Microservice architecture decomposes monolithic applications into discrete, atomic, full-stack service silos. Its patterns and principles take over where Service-Oriented Architecture left off, by including recent advances in containerization and DevOps culture. In fact, embracing Microservice architecture forces you into better practices related to design and operations, including Domain-Driven Design, single responsibility pattern, Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS) and Event Sourcing (ES). This session begins with a journey through the evolution of Microservices principles and patterns, followed by design discussions of real applications and visual topologies, and by a deep dive into platforms and tools. You will learn the process of design, development, deployment, upgrade, scale and operations for Microservices platforms and Container-based solutions on the Microsoft Azure Cloud.

Fraud detection is one of the earliest industrial applications of data mining and machine learning. As part of the Azure Machine Learning offering, Microsoft provides a template that helps data scientists easily build and deploy an online transaction fraud detection solution. The template includes a collection of pre-configured machine learning modules, as well as custom R scripts, to enable an end-to-end solution. This session presents best practices, design guidelines and a working implementation for building an online payment fraud detection mechanism in a SharePoint portal connected to a credit card payment gateway. The full source code of the solution is released as open source.

Azure Managed Applications - the what, why & how
Today, Azure provides a robust Marketplace where ISVs and start ups can offer their solutions to customers around the world. Azure Marketplace is a gallery that consists of hundreds of complex, multi-resource templates from first and third-party vendors. Customers can within minutes deploy and start using PaaS and SaaS applications. Although it provides a great way to quickly deploy an offering, the customer is still responsible for maintaining and updating the solution. For vendors, there is no way to charge customers for use of an application beyond the virtual machine image billing. Furthermore, vendors have no way of preventing customers from modifying critical application resources, and no way to block access to intellectual property that makes up an application. Azure Managed Applications provides a solution for these concerns. Join this session to learn about Azure Managed Applications, what it is, why we did it, and how you can create a managed application, for your Service Catalog & Azure Marketplace

OSD Frontends
OSD Frontends provide interaction at OS deployment time soliciting input from users, providing feedback to users, or performing other activities that built-in tasks cannot handle (or at least cannot handle well). User input include whatever is needed for the OS deployment to successfully complete and that cannot be automatically determined. Frontends can also provide pre-flight checks, provide feedback to the interactive user, and basically anything that is needed.
